Where Did Pusheen Come From?

Pusheen is a fictional cartoon of a female gray tabby cat created by partners Claire Belton and Andrew Duff. She was first introduced in 2010 as a character in comic strips that the duo published on their website, Everyday Cute.

The sweet feline quickly gained popularity after her debut, so various Pusheen merchandise, such as necklaces and keychain charms, was sold within the same year. It wasn’t until 2013 that Pusheen reached worldwide recognition when she became available online as a set of stickers that people could send through messages on Facebook.

By 2014 – 2015, Pusheen plushies hit international shelves as big-time toy manufacturer Gund started to distribute several designs of the lazy cat. Countless variations of Pusheen continue to be made up to this day. And now, in 2022, you can readily access them in physical and online stores all over the world.

Cause as much as I love the Pusheen brand, I’m more inclined to pick up a cute and uncommon plush. There’s just something appealing about getting an item that’s hard to find.

A couple of years ago, I used to go to several malls in a day to check out if new stocks of Pusheen plushies had arrived. Most of the time, I couldn’t get my hands on the hard-to-find designs since they were already sold out by the time I got there. The moment I finally scored one, I felt a sense of joy and pride that kept me happy all day.

The smallest Pusheen plush line is the Surprise Plush series. They’re also called Pusheen blind, or mystery boxes since you won’t be able to pick the design you want as every detail about the plush is hidden.
